Foundation

Born and raised in the small East Texas town of Crockett, Texas, Shannon is a proud graduate of the Texas public school system. He graduated from Crockett High School, Texas A&M University, and the George Bush School of Government & Public Service. He majored in Political Science and Russian, and received his Master’s in International Affairs with an emphasis on National Security. While at Texas A&M, he served in student government and as the President of the Texas A&M College Republicans – at the time the largest collegiate Republican group in the nation. While in graduate school, he was selected by the U.S. Department of State to serve in Kazakhstan where he helped with trade policy, security measures, and the movement of the embassy to a new capitol.

Decorated Counterterrorism Professional

After graduate school, Shannon began his career in public service as a management consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, where he brought efficiency to the Departments of the Army and Air Force. His efforts helped the Air Force and Army efficiently mobilize bases throughout the world to help them in the War on Terror. In this capacity, Shannon attained his Project Management Professional certificate and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Shannon then served as a counterterrorism professional on the front lines of the War on Terror. He received multiple intelligence awards (including the 2011 Sotera President’s Award – the highest award in the company) and helped establish one of the first terror watch listing systems that identified potential threats and prevented terrorists from entering the homeland. While in DC, he married his college sweetheart who also served in the intelligence community and the War on Terror. She was part of the unit mission that received the National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation from the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

Husband, Father, and Community Leader

Many events led Shannon to run as this District’s representative. The first and foremost is 9/11 … which led Shannon into counterterrorism in the first place, and still motivates him today. Shannon responded to President Bush’s call for a new generation of leadership in the War on Terror. This District needs new fresh leadership that knows how to harness technology to grow the District’s wealth and opportunity, as well as protect it from harm. Also, Shannon grew up in a medical family and spent much of his childhood traveling around Texas with his father staying in hospitals. He’s witnessed firsthand the changes in medicine over the past two decades. Shannon is a member of the NRA and is a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. With the arrival of their 3rd child, Shannon and his wife, Sabrina, decided to return home to Texas to be closer to their family. Since arriving home, Shannon has served as an IT professional helping companies complete projects on time, within scope and on budget. He currently works for a leading Oil & Gas Company in Arlington, Texas as an IT Manager and process efficiency expert.
